The Genç Ekonomistler® Club aims to organize the “International Genç Ekonomistler® Congress”, which will be held for the 7th time this year, and to make this organization traditional, which arouses great interest in many universities across the country. The congress, which will be held on an international scale, will be held this year between May 17 – 19, 2024, free of charge and online, with the theme of “Fine-Tuning”.
Within the scope of the congress theme, the call for international papers was published as follows;
“The world has made a new beginning with the pandemic. While all humanity had to adapt to a new life, policies and expectations were also subject to change. We are reorganizing the new world by reviewing and fine-tuning our preferences, thoughts and behaviors. Policies and global developments now invite us to adapt to a more multidisciplinary life.”
In this context, the 7th International Genç Ekonomistler® Congress is open to all theoretical and empirical studies of undergraduate and graduate students examining the developments in the world and in Turkey.
Finally, at the congress, the basic workflow was announced as follows with the call for papers.

By following the relevant basic workflow, academic units will be informed primarily through social media and promotional e-mails to members of the scientific committee, invited speakers and congress supporters throughout the process.
1. Theme
Unlike many organizations, the congress prepares theme announcements that encourage participants to think more deeply and be creative. The main reason for this is that social sciences are not just theories, they contain social and human elements. The pandemic period is also a part of this process; the limits of social life, the fact that the biggest constraint of life is time, and humanity’s struggle against its own helplessness has inspired all multidisciplinary studies, especially social sciences.
In all this intellectual intensity, the congress said, “… the greatest flaw of humanity; striving for perfection…”, he opens the economic process to rethinking and discussion with free ideas.
Congress; through this theme, it invites all researchers to freely examine the topics under the sub-titles (indicated below) and to a scientific feast that adds value to all its stakeholders by supporting their findings with policy proposals.
2. Subtitles
Participants in the congress can prepare papers in the following gel classifications. The sub-branches that are suggested and expected to be studied within the relevant classifications are as follows.
Click to access related gel code titles and details.
3. Conditions of Participation
Conditions of participation and related statutes are as follows.
All persons with the basic conditions stated above will be able to present papers to the congress.
4. Abstract
Submission of abstracts will be done via Google Forms. Abstract submission by e-mail or physical submission will not be accepted.
Abstracts should be prepared in accordance with the abstract template published at http://en.kongregeko.org/document/abstract/ .
In abstract submissions;
i. Title of the paper
ii. The owner(s) of the paper;
iii. Gel code (maximum 3),
iv. Keyword (maximum 3)
should be clearly stated.
Abstract text should not exceed 200 words. Click to submit a summary.
5. Full Paper
There are 2 different options for writing full text papers. Efforts are being made to encourage researchers specifically to write with LaTeX. At this point, coefficient superiority is ensured in the evaluation process of writing full-text papers with LaTeX. In addition, the participants will be able to write using MS Word. However, writing preference in MS Word creates a lower coefficient effect.
Basically, full-text papers should be prepared in accordance with the template published on http://www.kongregeko.org . In full text submissions;
i. Title of the paper
ii. The owner(s) of the paper;
iii. Gel code (maximum 3),
iv. Keyword (maximum 3)
Full text papers; It should be a maximum of 30 pages, including the abstract and bibliography. Attachments are not included in this page limit. Click here to access the full text template.
The template used for full-text writing is valid in both LaTeX and MS Word. However, there is an additional script-based template for LaTeX. In order to show this template and teach the program, all participants will be shown “on demand” within the framework of congress courses. After this process, participants will be able to complete their work in the relevant format and send it.
Each paper can be presented by a maximum of 2 people. Paper owners who do not receive the full text within the relevant dates or send only the summary text will not be able to attend the congress as participants. Paper presentations will be made in Turkish or English. The presentation time of each paper is maximum 15 minutes, including questions and answers.
The abstract text of the papers will be published digitally and made available to the public. As a result of the evaluation among the papers in the congress, the best papers will be awarded and only the awarded papers will be published as a booklet. Paper presentations will be made live on YouTube in online sessions.
6. Assessment
3 papers will be awarded at the congress. The evaluation will be divided according to undergraduate and graduate levels, and also 1 best paper will be awarded in the “Undergraduate” branch in memory of Prof. Suut Doğruel, who passed away in 2023, and in the “Finance” branch in memory of Dr. Yaşar Erdinç, who passed away in 2019. In the “Finance” branch, if there are 2 people with a paper and one of them is from undergraduate and the other is from master’s level, the evaluation will be made according to the master’s level. The awarded papers will also be published as a congress book. But the publication rights belong to the authors.
There are two weights in the scoring of these studies. These will be calculated by summing the scores of the scientific evaluation of the full text of the study and the presentation to be made by the presenters. While double-blind referees will take part in the scientific evaluation process, the session chair’s scoring will be included in the presentation evaluation.
In order to ensure the principle of transparency in the congress, the scores are announced openly. This weighting is based on 100 points and will be calculated as follows as an example.
Table 2. Example Overall Scoring
Section | Assessment | Score | Weight | Weighted Score |
Full Paper | Science Com. | 80 | 0.70 | 56 |
Presentation | Moderator | 70 | 0.30 | 21 |
TOTAL | 77 |

In accordance with the principle of transparency; Scientific committee evaluation and presentation scores of all participants will be notified to their parties. Pursuant to the same principle; If the member of the scientific committee does not evaluate the relevant study on time, the organizing committee will evaluate the study.
The entire evaluation process regarding the more transparent execution of the relevant process is shared with the public in detail. In this context, the table above shows how the final process is calculated in general. In the sample general scoring shown in Table 3. 2., the scientific committee evaluation score is the average of two referee evaluations. In this demonstration, it is important to explain the scientific evaluation process in more detail. In the relevant process, the member of the scientific committee evaluates in 3 stages. These;
consists of stages.
The Scientific Evaluation Criteria area is calculated over 100 points, and each question is evaluated between 1 and 5 over 20 basic questions; contains 70% of the total. The detailed view of the relevant scoring is as follows.
Table 3. Full Paper / Sample Scientific Assessment Criteria
Section | Assessment | Max Score | Score | Weight | Weighted Score |
Full Paper | Referee – 1 | 100 | 80 | 0.70 | 56 |
Referee – 2 | 100 | 60 | 0.70 | 42
Score | 98 | Weight | 0.50 | Total | 49 |

Then, “Plagiarism” reports are received by an independent agent using the Turnitin program. This report has a weight of 20 points to be added to the “Scientific Review”. However, in the calculation process, it is weighted on a 100-point scale (100 x (1 – Plagiarism Rate)). The detailed view of the relevant scoring is as follows.
Table 4. Full Paper/ Sample Plagiarism Screening Scoring
Plagiarism Rate | 0.07 | Multiplier (1-Plagiarism Rate) | 0.93 | Division Score | 20 | Total | 18.6 |

Finally, a scoring is made for the “Writing Format”, which has been put into practice as of 2023. The writing process via LaTeX or MS Word will be calculated with a total weight of 10 points. If the participant used LaTeX writing, he will be scored with a 90% multiplier of 10 points, while his MS Word preference will be added by multiplying 10% of the same score. The detailed view of the relevant scoring is as follows.
Table 5. Full Paper / Sample Writing Format Scoring
If the study is written in MS Word; The scoring (Ceiling Point x Weight x Coefficient) is as follows.
Format | Max Score | Weight | Coefficient | Score |
MS Word | 10 | 0.10 | 1 | 1 |
LaTeX | 10 | 0.90 | 0 | 0 |
